Poser 366 - Minutes of the barony court of Corstorphine, 1692

In this week’s poser, part of a rental roll in the minutes of the barony court of Corstorphine in 1692 (National Records of Scotland, RH11/17/1 page 5), we asked you to identify the five tenants whose names had been scored out.

Extract from minutes of the barony court of Corstorphine, 1692 (National Records of Scotland, RH11/17/1 page 5).

Answer

The five names crossed out appear to be: Jean Alexander, Thomas Rossie, James Steinsone, George Muir elder and William Young. Of these ‘George Muir’ is the most doubtful reading (the capital M is clear and there appears to be a tittle above the second letter, making it almost certainly u, then a letter with a dot above it then one more completely obliterated letter).
